An 18-year-old Quinte West resident is facing charges after a report of a person with a firearm led to a lockdown at Trent River Public School last Wednesday.
Quinte West OPP responded shortly before 4 p.m. Sept. 23 after receiving reports of a young person allegedly carrying a firearm on school property. Police, assisted by the Emergency Response Team and canine unit, located and arrested the individual without incident.
Police later determined the weapon was an imitation firearm. Dakota Stone faces charges of possessing an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief for interfering with the lawful use of property.
Stone was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Belleville before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
