The Friends of the Library Simcoe Branch is looking for some enthusiastic voices to help bring a Christmas classic to life.
Auditions are being held for this year’s dramatic reading of A Christmas Carol, returning after a successful debut last year.
Committee chair Amanda Van Schyndel says organizers are looking for five community members to join featured reader Claire Senko of Waterford Old Town Hall.
No acting experience is required, and participants won’t have to memorize any lines. The focus is simply on delivering Charles Dickens’ words in an engaging way.
Auditions run Saturday, October 3 and Saturday, October 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room at the Simcoe library. Anyone interested is welcome to audition.
The reading takes place November 27 at St. James United Church and will also feature live piano, violin and vocal performances between sections.
Van Schyndel says last year’s reading received strong feedback from the community.
The event is also a fundraiser for the Friends of the Library, supporting projects at the Simcoe branch.
