Robert Wharram has called Trenton home for more than 25 years with his wife, Paula Penson, raising their family while building a local renovation business.
He describes himself as a community advocate, volunteer and municipal committee member.
Wharram entered the 2026 municipal election race for the Ward 1 council seat and is one of 10 candidates seeking five seats.
Priorities and Experience
Wharram says his community involvement has included raising concerns about proposed data centres, opposing a wastewater rate change he says would have shifted costs onto Trenton residents, and helping establish a program providing free transit passes for local students.
His campaign priorities include improving communication between City Hall and residents, maintaining local infrastructure, addressing traffic safety on major corridors including Front Street and Highway 2, and reviewing the municipal budget for potential savings.
He also supports practical housing measures that respect existing neighbourhoods and says residents should be kept informed about changes affecting their streets.
Why Trenton
After more than two decades in Trenton, Wharram says he wants to bring residents back into local decision-making and provide what he describes as responsive representation.
His campaign emphasizes listening to neighbours, connecting the community and focusing municipal attention on everyday services and infrastructure.
