A Belleville man is leaving a lasting legacy at Belleville General Hospital through a $100,000 estate gift made in memory of Terry Clarke.
A gathering at Quinte Health’s Belleville General Hospital celebrated Clarke’s life and generosity. He specifically asked that three nurses who supported him during his hospital visits be recognized: Sarah Ryckman of the Medical Day Clinic, and Sunday Lucas and Theresa Kijak of Diagnostic Imaging.
The donation will support their departments, oncology and priority medical equipment for frontline staff. Clarke also supported the Cancer Clinic at Kingston General Hospital and the Terry Fox Foundation.
Clarke was known for his many careers, including driving for Belleville Transit and Trent-Way Wager, working at the Ramada Inn and Concentrix, and selling tickets for the Ontario Lottery Corp.
He faced cancer with optimism and determination, often describing each medical challenge as another hurdle to conquer. His sister, Lynn Chipps, said Clarke had a heart of gold and generously gave his time, energy and love to others.
