The 2026 Kids Can’t Wait Radiothon is set to raise money Wednesday for programs supporting children and youth across Hastings, Northumberland and Prince Edward counties. The 12-hour fundraiser runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with local radio stations joining The Children’s Foundation for the annual campaign.
Presented by Wilkinson & Company, the event supports programs aimed at helping vulnerable children and youth.
Ingrid Moore is the executive director of The Children’s Foundation, serving Hastings, Northumberland and Prince Edward counties. Moore recalls that the foundation started during a time when so much uncertainty surrounded not only nearby communities, but the entire planet.
The radiothon has become an annual fundraising effort involving local broadcasters, businesses and community members. Donations can be made through The Children’s Foundation, with proceeds supporting its work with local children and families.
A total of 10 local radio stations are on board, getting the message out all day Wednesday. For Moore and her team, that means everything when it comes to widespread awareness of the programs and services they provide.
According to Moore, in Northumberland alone this year, The Children’s Foundation has supported 75 children through its Playing for Keeps program and another 53 children through Camps of Hope.
Moore goes on to stress that transparency and discretion are key to the foundation’s approach, so as not to draw unnecessary attention to families and children in need.
The programs offered are easily accessible with a couple of simple forms, and few organizations understand the challenges families face better than Moore and her team.
If you would like to make a donation, you can call 613-921-KIDS anytime between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7.
