Two Cobourg residents are facing drug trafficking and weapons charges following a police investigation in Brighton.
Northumberland OPP say officers on patrol around 10:30 p.m. Oct. 6 noticed a parked vehicle near Telephone Road and County Road 30 and spoke with its occupants. The interaction led to a drug investigation and the arrest of both the driver and passenger.
Police say a search of the vehicle turned up about 70 grams of suspected cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia and an edged weapon.
A 42-year-old and a 38-year-old, both from Cobourg, have each been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
Both are scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in January 2027.
