One person is facing an impaired driving charge and two other motorists had their licences suspended following an OPP RIDE initiative in Quinte West.
Police conducted a spot check Tuesday, Oct. 13, on Wooler Road near West Davis Street, where officers stopped a vehicle and launched an impaired driving investigation.
Craig Cummings, 47, of Quinte West, was charged with operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams.
He received a 90-day licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. Cummings was released and is scheduled to appear in Belleville court on Nov. 26.
Two other drivers registered alert readings on approved screening devices and received immediate seven-day licence suspensions.
The OPP reminds motorists that RIDE checks can occur anywhere, at any time, and urges anyone who suspects an impaired driver to call 911.
