The cities of Quinte West and Belleville are encouraging residents to take part in fall Giveaway Days on Oct. 17 and 18, offering an opportunity to reuse household goods and reduce landfill waste.
Residents can place unwanted items in good condition at the curb, clearly marked as free, starting at 8 a.m.
Items not claimed must be brought back inside by 8 p.m. each day.
Suitable goods include books, furniture, small appliances and construction materials. Safety-sensitive items such as car seats and cribs should not be given away.
