Campbellford’s plans for a new hospital have cleared another hurdle after Trent Hills council unanimously approved land-use changes for the proposed Campus of Care.
The decision was made Oct. 13 and covers a 48-acre property on County Road 30. The amendments establish a Special Development Area to support plans for a new hospital, long-term care home and other health and community services.
Campbellford Memorial Hospital president and CEO Jeff Hohenkerk says each milestone brings the project closer to meeting the community’s health-care needs.
The land was offered to the hospital in 2022 by local landowner and longtime supporter Jim Curle. The hospital has since worked with municipal officials, consultants and project partners to secure the necessary planning approvals.
Hohenkerk thanked council, municipal staff and Curle for their support, saying the land donation made the Campus of Care vision possible.Further planning, technical studies and community engagement remain as the hospital continues through the Ministry of Health’s capital planning process.
