Norfolk County OPP are asking for information after a pickup truck failed to remain at the scene of a collision that left a young cyclist with minor injuries near Courtland.
Emergency services responded to the collision on Highway 59, just outside the community, shortly after 8 p.m. Friday.
In a video shared Saturday, Constable Andrew Gamble said the pickup truck is believed to be a white Chevrolet Silverado.
The cyclist was wearing a helmet and suffered minor injuries.
Gamble said the collision serves as a reminder that motorists and cyclists share responsibility for road safety, particularly as earlier sunsets make visibility more challenging.
Police are urging drivers to remain alert for pedestrians and cyclists during both daylight and nighttime hours.
Cyclists are being encouraged to follow the rules of the road, wear a helmet and use lights, reflectors and reflective clothing to help others see them after dark.
Gamble emphasized the importance of helmets in reducing the risk of serious injury.
Anyone with information about the collision or the pickup truck is asked to contact Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and reference incident E261534707.
