Shoppers can discover handcrafted gifts from around the world while supporting international artisans and a local cause when the Simcoe Fair Trade Sale returns this weekend.
The sale runs Friday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the gym at First Baptist Church.
Co-chairman Gordon Potts says the event brings fair trade handicrafts and unique items from more than 30 developing countries to the community through its partnership with Cobourg Ten Thousand Villages.
With Halloween now behind us, you can also attend the Fair Trade sale to get prepared for the next big holiday.
Potts says the variety gives shoppers an opportunity to find distinctive gifts while learning more about the people and communities behind them.
They also have a unique payment method for these events as well.
The sale also brings together volunteers from six churches who want the event to benefit the local community.
This year, organizers plan to contribute to St. Vincent de Paul and raise awareness of its work.
Potts says the extended Friday hours will give more people an opportunity to visit, including those who cannot attend during the day.
