Impaired driving related charges have been laid in connection with two separate traffic incidents on Highway 401 in Northumberland region.
An OPP patrol spotted a vehicle stopped against the centre median near Brighton. The car had hit the concrete barrier causing heavy damage to the vehicle.
The driver wasn’t injured but police determined they’d consumed alcohol. The driver – a 49 year old Toronto resident, failed a roadside sobriety and test and a second test at the OPP detachment.
Separately – a concerned motorist called police about a vehicle being driven erratically on Highway 401. Officers stopped it near the Lyle Street junction in ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TOWNSHIP.
Talking with the driver and subsequent alcohol testing led police to lay two impaired related charges against a 32 year old Quinte West resident.
