A major capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation will play a significant role in the completion of the new Batawa Lions Club skating rink.
On Friday, MPP Todd Smith and City of Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison had a chance to see the results of the work done so far.
In addition to the L-E-D lighting, upgraded washroom facilities, the $140,000 from the O-T-F has helped the Club buy 50 pairs of skates and helmets for its skate loan program and create a heated storage garage.
Batawa Community Rinks will now have four hockey surfaces and two skating surfaces including a small skating oval.
