Paying it forward has pushed Hospice Quinte much closer to its fundraising objective for the new palliative care centre on Old Highway Two.
The family of Stan Klemencic has donated $1 million dollars to the project. A refugee from Slovenia – Klemencic was a successful local entrepreneur. He farmed in the region and raised horses. Klemencic received end of life care from Hospice Quinte before he died in June at the age of 94.
The Stan Klemencic Care Centre is expected to open in October. Before then Hospital Quinte hopes to raise another $650 thousand in capital funding for the project.
