Help celebrate our men and women in blue during Police Week,
This year’s theme is Helping Build Safer Communities.
Police Week celebrates the work of front-line police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, civilian staff, and all members of Ontario police services do, to keep Ontarians safe and healthy.
According to Lisa Munday of the Cobourg Police Service, it’s also a time to reflect on those that have made the ultimate sacrifice and particularly on a Cobourg officer who died in the line of duty on May 15, 2004.
Cobourg Police are also hosting several events throughout the week in order to engage with the community.
Police Week activities include online and in person events, including:
• Colouring contest
• Document Shred – May 19
• Bike Rodeo – May 28
• Pedestrian Safety, Bike Safety, Home Safety, Road Safety, and online safety tips will be shared on CPS
social media channels.
• Electronics Drop Off – more information to follow
Munday spoke about how important it is to make a connection with kids.
There will also be a Bike Rodeo that will be held a Play It Again Sports where you can get safety tips, register your bike and try out the obstacle course.
Munday told us that’s not all.
Police Week was first observed in 1970 and coincides with the Peace Officers Memorial Day, recognized internationally on May 15.
