An inclusive playground project in Trenton got one step closer to reality after it received a big funding boost recently.
The Lions Club of Trenton is set to receive $10,000 from Trenval’s Community Economic Development program as a contribution toward the all-inclusive playground set to break ground this summer.
The Trenton Lions are grateful for the donation, which will be used to buy equipment for the playground.
“The primary objective of the all-inclusive playground is to allow youth and seniors to feel independent and foster better health. This funding from Trenval will go towards equipment that will build agility and strength thru exercise in the outdoors allowing all individuals to feel part of the community,” said Lions’ club member Mike Seymour in a press release.
The location of the all-inclusive playground is on land supplied and maintained by the City of Quinte West on Bay Street, Trenton, on the east side of Club 105. The equipment will feature avenues for local youth and mature adults to use their minds to build self-confidence with physical activity and will be ideal for people with disabilities.
“Organizations such as the Lion’s Club contribute to a wide variety of programming in the community and we are pleased to provide a contribution to this playground project that will build capacity for building economic growth locally and fosters the increase for individuals of all ages and circumstance be able to participate”, said Amber Darling, Trenval’s Executive Director, in a press release.
The location of the all-inclusive playground is ideal as it has access to a comfort station that is already designated accessible and is frequented by many residents for soccer games and other community events.
