It began as a way to fight back against the isolation of COVID; an outdoor concert that would not only give folks a chance to get together but also help those who hadn’t weathered COVID as well as their neighbours.
This United Way Northumberland fundraiser owes it’s beginnings to Graham Beer, Executive Producer of Cobourg Media with the support of people like Doug Bates of the Kaitlyn Bates Initiative, Cale Crowe and 107.9 Classic Rock’s own York Bell Smith.
York told us the first concert came together in only 5 or 6 weeks!
Last year’s concert was a great success, raising over 25-thousand dollars in support of Northumberland United Way who help target and fill the gaps in our community around food security, housing, childcare, senior support, employment and mental health.
The Lions Club of Cobourg will once again host the outdoor event in the back parking lot at the Lions Community Centre, 157 Elgin Street in Cobourg.
York told us that we’re so fortunate in Northumberland to have organizations like the Lions Club, United Way and such a deep pool of talent to draw on for the concert.
You can get tickets now at the NRB website: Northumberland Rocks Back
or at the gate on August 6th for $25 dollars per person.
The gates open at 4 pm and you can enjoy a barbeque hosted by the Lions Club until the event starts at 5 pm.
Northumberland Rocks Back is a family-friendly event for all ages.
And here’s a pro tip, bring a lawn chair or blanket for the best experience!![]()
