The race for the mayor’s seat in Brighton is officially on.
Brighton Councillor Doug LeBlanc has announced he’s running for mayor.
He’s been on council since 2018, and has decided he wants to take the reins of the town.
LeBlanc has over 30 years of successful experience in business and as a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces.
He’ll be running against incumbent Mayor Brian Ostrander.
His press release announcing his candidacy can be found here:
Brighton, Ontario: Doug LeBlanc has announced today that he has registered to run
for Mayor of Brighton.
Since being elected in 2018, Doug has been a councillor who gets things done for the
residents of Brighton. He has provided a strong voice of reason at the council table. He
has dedicated his time to helping residents by expanding accessibility in town, from
sidewalk repairs to road repairs, working with councillors like Mark Bateman to increase
broadband for our rural neighbours and save the municipality millions of dollars over
his term in council.
With over 30 years of successful experience in business and as a former member of the
Canadian Armed Forces, Doug knows that dedicated service to others is crucial to
leading Brighton forward.
Doug has proven he is up to the challenge. With the rising cost of living and the need
for shovel-ready infrastructure projects in Brighton. it’s imperative to have a leader with
the experience to provide financial stability and improve the services residents need.
Doug also knows it is essential to show the residents of Brighton that his campaign will
lead with respect and integrity, which is why his campaign is launching the Keep It
Clean Initiative. He challenges all candidates in the election to commit to the same.
Attached to this release is the code of conduct for all those involved in the Doug
LeBlanc for Mayor Campaign and a clear and open social media policy. All candidates
in the election are welcome to use these policies to enhance civility in this election.
