Nearly 6 months ago, after delays due to the pandemic, Jamie and Emily Stoneburgh were married.
They booked their honeymoon for January 7th knowing that passports might take a while.
Emily and her baby’s passport arrived two weeks ago, but they’re still waiting for her husband’s.
With one week left, a the couple hopes their honeymoon plans won’t have to be cancelled.
Emily told us they waited the initial 13 weeks only to have the passport office tell them the wait was now 17 weeks – so they called MP Phillip Lawrence for help.
The Passport Canada website states that applications submitted in person should be completed in 10 business days, but admit they’re dealing with high volumes and processing times may be longer than usual.
After 22 weeks, they’re down to literally days before their departure and still waiting on Jamie’s passport.
Today Emily and her young baby are making the trek from Brighton to Scarborough in hopes that showing their confirmed travel arrangements will make a difference.
We’ll keep you posted on how it goes.
