The redevelopment of the Campbellford Memorial Hospital will be one of the biggest projects ever seen in Trent Hills.
The current facility was built in 1956, has 34 beds, and serves 40-thousand residents as well as a large seasonal population of cottagers and tourists.
President and CEO Eric Hanna told us the We Can’t Wait campaign is about you.
CMH was last upgraded 40 years ago, adding the Emergency department and Diagnostic Image area but many parts of the building are now nearly 70 years old.
Hanna told us about the need for a new facility.
According to Hanna, getting a timeline in place is critical to forecasting where money should be spent.
Eric told us everything is in place to move forward except a capital planning grant from the province.
Hanna told us why the planning grant is so important.
According to Hanna, the current facility is just not up to today’s standards.
To ensure the Campus of Care becomes a reality, you can show your support and ensure the province knows that, not only do we need a new hospital, but that the community supports it.
You can do a number of things to help.
Tell everyone what a new hospital would mean to you by placing a card on the Wall of Wishes located at the hospital.
You might also share a photo or post on social media explaining why you feel a new hospital is needed and use the hashtags: #mynewCMH, #DavidPiccini, #DaveSmith, #SylviaJones, #RicBresee, #ToddSmith.
Whatever you do, be sure to make your voice heard.
