Colborne Art Gallery Opens First Show of 2023 in support of Spark Festival.
The Colborne Art Gallery has opened its spring show called Splash: Perspectives of Waters, featuring the photography of two of its members, Ian Davis and Ken Solilo, in support of the 10th annual Spark Festival.
Gallery Member Elizabeth Vercoe told us more about the show.
The Spark Photo Festival is a celebration of photography, and its artists, dreamers, innovators, storytellers, professionals and enthusiasts behind the camera lens. 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of this festival that officially opens in April, with additional pop up locations in the City of Peterborough, Northumberland County and in the City of Kawartha Lakes region.
“This is the first time we are participating in Spark,” said Elizabeth Vercoe. “Our show is called Splash, and it features the photography of Ian Davis and Ken Solilo, who are examining the perspectives of water. Their takes on water, and their images are both very unique and refreshing.”
Vercoe told us about the gallery.
The show officially opened on March 10th and will run for 8 weeks, ending on May 7th, 2023.
The Colborne Art Gallery is a co-operative group of artists, who volunteer their time to operate the 3 room art gallery. The Splash exhibit is housed in one room and the other two rooms currently feature works from other arts, painting, sculpture and objects for viewing too.
According to Elizabeth, you can enjoy both during your visit.
March’s operation hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm.
Vercoe said beginning in April, they’ll be expanding their hours to Thursdays as well.
“We are a lovely afternoon drive, and of course you can stop and have lunch at Pomona, and then walk over to the gallery,” added Vercoe. “And of course, visit the other shops along the main street too, it would make for a nice afternoon.”
The Colborne Art Gallery is housed in the heritage building that used to be the County Archives building and it is located at 51 King Street East in downtown Colborne, Ontario.
