We caught up with Executive Committee member Richard Price at the Canoe and Kayak start. He told us they broke records this year.
According to Co-chair Barry Adamson, Port Hope’s signature river race marks the start of the nice weather each year.
And the crowds in Fannyville showed that spring had arrived. The event saw a record number of Crazy Craft entered as well.

The Unicorn Cowboys were a great example of where spirits were at for the start of Saturday’s Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny race.
Team member, Michael O’Rourke said he was a fanny champion from down under.
They ended up placing 21st out of a field of 50 finishers in the Crazy Craft division, not too shabby even though they had to bring in a ringer.
The Canton Vikings took first place this year a minute and a half ahead of Speed Raft for fastest time.
We spoke to Vikings captain Daniel Petronevich before launch…
New blood made the difference and they came in with a time of 1 hour, 13 minutes and 30 seconds. The 2022 winner, The Cursed Bog, took 3rd place.
Folks come from all over to challenge the Ganaraska River.
Matt and Huxley Langmuir from Bethany came in 25th overall, not bad for their first time.
Connor Jowitt came back for a rematch.
Connor did make a respectable showing in the end, coming in at just over the 1 hour and 30 minute mark in 33rd place.
Lucas Collins ran the Ganny last year, but it was the first time for his brother Lincoln.
