Citizen of the Year Nominations Open until June 10th.
Do you know a tireless volunteer who lives in the Municipality of Brighton?
Community Events & Civic Awards Steering Committee Member Emily Rowley told us the town is accepting nominations for this year’s Citizen of the Year.
The Citizen of the Year award recognizes an all-around outstanding citizen who through a lifetime of service and contribution to the community has demonstrated the true spirit of this award.
In order to qualify for the Citizen of the Year Award, nominees must meet the following official requirements”
– Be a resident of the Municipality of Brighton for a minimum of five years.
– Have contributed significantly to their community over a number of years.
– The nominee must have not received any remuneration for the volunteer activity for which the award is being proposed, or have voluntarily performed duties related to their paid employment significantly beyond what is expected of a person handling that paid position.
“So many people do such a variety of amazing work here in the Municipality of Brighton,” said Councillor Emily Rowley – a member of the Community Events & Civic Awards Steering Committee of the Municipality of Brighton. “Many of them do the work behind the scenes, are so dedicated, and often dedicate some much of their time and expertise to their volunteering.”
Nominations are open until June 10th and the form is located on the Municipality of Brighton’s website.
The award will be presented during the Municipality of Brighton’s Canada Day celebrations on July 1st.
Do you know a local service club member, or a long term volunteer with a local not for profit? Fill in a nomination form to day so that they can be recognized for their efforts.
“Brighton wouldn’t be what it is today without volunteers,” added Rowley. “Volunteering is one of our core values at the Municipality, their contribution, mentorship and commitment makes our community a great place to live.
