If you’re looking for something to do with your children before school’s back in season, you can participate in the YMCA Strong Kids Duathalon.
Friends and family are welcomed to join in on the festivities to cheer on their youngster as they swim and run through Centennial Pool and Victoria Park on August 25.
Getting inspiration flowing for young athletes is at the forefront of the event, but it’ll also contribute to YMCA Northumberland’s mission on improving health and well-being from the YMCA Strong Communities.
This year, fundraising will be pushed directly into teaching kids to swim and training lifeguards. Jessica Fraser-Thomas, YMCA Northumberland Board Director says our community could use the services.
“As a lakeside community, we have chosen to direct a portion of the proceeds raised this year to where there is real need; ensuring kids are safe in the water through swimming lessons and lifeguards.” Fraser-Thomas says, “We invite everyone to join us at this event as we unite to make a difference in the lives of many.”
YMCA Northumberland tells families to lace up their sneakers, put on their cheer gear, and be a part of this celebration!
