The suspect involved with last week’s stabbing in Cobourg has been denied bail.
According to TodaysNorthumberland, 43-year-old Brad Johnson was denied bail at his hearing on August 3.
Duty counsel Brad Pearson argued the Johnson should get bail based on the sureties testimony
Ultimately, Assistant Crown Janine D’Souza stated Johnson left to retrieve the weapon and came back to the scene with it, saying any reasonable person would have called the police.
Justice of the Peace Jack LeBlanc then recounted multiple criminal record dates related to this incident, going back as far as 1994. These include: possession of a weapon, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, attempt break and enter, theft, failing to comply with probation, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited
Johnson will return to court to be spoken to August 9.
