The Northumberland OPP responded to a drowning incident in Lake Ontario off the pier in the Town of Cobourg.
On August 12, Cobourg Police Service, along with Cobourg Fire Department, responded to a person in distress in the water at the east side of the pier in Cobourg. The person had gone under the water and had not resurfaced.
Northumberland OPP took over the investigation following the first info the public received about the incident.
As a result of the search, a 25-year-old male from Scarborough was located and transported to a hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
