
Considerable damage was done by yesterday morning’s fire at BEYOND THE BLUE BOX Thrift Store on Covert Street.
Fire chief Ellard Beaven tells us police on patrol sounded the alarm at around 3:30 a.m.
Beaven tells us the investigation is just getting started.
The owner of Cobourg’s BEYOND THE BLUE BOX, Jane Hawthorne, says this morning’s fire at the store hurts the community.
She says this devastating fire is a set-back, but not the end.
Located on Covert Street in Cobourg, Beyond the Blue Box Thrift Store is in its 31st year of operations.
It bills itself as one of Canada’s longest standing and most successful community based waste reduction and reuse centres.
