Quinte Conservation has made significant improvements to its Conservation Areas thanks to money from parking fees.
The cash has helped pay for the construction and repairs of bridges and boardwalks, the expansion of parking lots, resurfacing of select trails for more accessibility, the installation of new information kiosks featuring interpretive signage, audio walks and Conservation Area Improvement Plans Feedback Form.
“It’s incredible to see the support from our visitors who have been purchasing daily and annual passes” said Tammy Smith, Quinte Conservation’s Corporate Services Manager.
Additionally, the installation of electronic gates has cut down on littering and vandalism, noticeably improving sensitive sites like Little Bluff Conservation Area.
Electronic parking gates are located at Potter’s Creek North, Potter’s Creek South, H.R. Frink, Depot Lakes, and Vanderwater. A gate is expected to be installed at Massassauga before the end of the year.

If money is tight, Quinte Conservation provides parking passes to libraries located in the Quinte Watersheds to ensure all can still visit these spaces.
