The Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums stepped up in a significant way following a recent theft at Cobourg Branch 133, where thieves made off with thousands of dollars.
Two weeks ago, thieves managed to steal two safes containing a substantial amount of money earned from various events.
According to Todays Northumberland, Jane Ashley, President of the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums, presented Rod Ingersol with a generous $5,000 check to help alleviate the financial burden caused by the theft.
Ingersol remarked, “It is unbelievable, the amount that was donated. It was not expected at all. It blew me away and it almost brought tears to my eye. I’m extremely happy, as well as the entire executive.”
Cobourg Police continue to investigate the theft and urge anyone with information to contact the police or CrimeStoppers.
