A town’s heritage can be hard to discover for residents, but the Town hopes to change that for Cobourg with the Heritage Matters series.
The three-part series explores the principles of conservation from industry professionals. By learning about this, you can actively protect your home’s heritage.
Town Heritage Planner, Marina Smirnova, explains.
The first part of the series debut on October 24, with a session focusing on the broader relevance of the initiative. Their original promotional material said anybody was welcome, but the session would be mainly of-interest for heritage property owners and real estate agents. Smirnova said there was definite interest from the public.
The events are mainly ran by Smirnova, but she won’t be doing this alone. She says she’ll be joined by trades professional as well.
The next session on Nov. 7 will feature Learn Chris Boot from Historic Brick Company and Daniel Arellano from Arcana Restoration to cover the art and science of heritage masonry.

Tom Plue from SkyHigh Restoration joins the following session on Nov. 21. He’ll speak about building materials used for traditional brick-and-mortar construction.
