Lakefront Utilities found a new way to manage your energy use.
They’re introducing the Green Button initiative.
The Green Button initiative is being implemented by energy companies across Ontario. It provides electric meter usage data and billing information that customers can download and share.
Todd Smith, Minister of Energy, emphasized the importance for residents to take control of their energy bills, “Green Button is part of our commitment to give consumers more choice when it comes to their energy use and will enable easy, quick, and safe access to their consumption data through smartphone or computer apps so they can track and control energy use or switch electricity price plans to save money.”
The Green Button initiative has been slowly implemented by energy distributors over the last two years.
Ontario Energy Board says Green Button data can help customers make more informed choices about your energy use, switching electricity price plans or making efficiency investments to homes or business.
Dereck Paul, President & CEO of Lakefront Utilities Inc., expressed their enthusiasm for this technology, saying, “We are thrilled to offer this technology and empower our customers to better understand how they use energy and take action to reduce their usage. By using the Share My Data and Connect My Data feature available on our website, customers have access to a whole new level of energy data that can be delivered easily and securely to their preferred application or device.”
