The Quinte West Warming Centre is open.
Starting from Dec. 1 until the end of March 2024, the Quinte West Warming Centre will be open every night for the winter. You can find the centre at Trenton United Church, 85 Dundas St. E. The centre will be open from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. each night.
“We thank Hastings County and our community partners for working with us to offer this necessary service for our most vulnerable residents,” said Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “We are building upon the success of last year’s efforts by opening the warming centre nightly during the winter months for the 2023-2024 season.”
“Hastings County is pleased to be able to assist the City of Quinte West with the opening and operation of a warming centre again this year. This is a critical service for our communities to be able to provide a safe and warm place for people who are experiencing homelessness in the cold winter months. Through this model, we are able to bring together important supports and services through key partnerships with organizations who are dedicated to assisting vulnerable members of our communities,” stated Warden Bob Mullin.
This marks the third year the overnight warming centre has been open in Quinte West. The centre is a space for individuals to seek relief from the cold. Beds and meals are not provided.
