Arts in Brighton has a vibrant history – now the Brighton Arts and Culture Council is here to curate it.
The Brighton Arts and Culture Council (BACC) is the successor to the Brighton Arts Council, which disbanded in 2020. The BACC amalgamated during the pandemic before recently becoming a formal council. Their mission – to make a more connected and accessible arts and culture sector in the Brighton and surrounding area.
How? By connecting with the community. We spoke with the Director of the BACC board, Ron Waddling, about what the BACC is doing.
Over the past few months, the BACC has worked to increase the visibility and value of local arts and artists. After all, Brighton has been home to a lot of talented creators. Waddling gives us some examples.
Waddling also spoke about actor Ian Simpson, who lives in Brighton. The council is currently made up of over a dozen members, and memberships aren’t limited to just Brighton.
The BACC welcomes all artists involved in theatre, visual arts, music or any other form to become a member. The BACC also recommends following local artists on social media platforms and sharing their posts whenever possible.
