
Prince Edward County OPP say they have charged a Brighton resident after a lengthy fraud investigation involving an alleged $80,000-plus in misappropriated funds.
On Tuesday, Feb. 13, officers arrested and charged an individual following a lengthy fraud investigation, said police, on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
Police said an organization reported that funds – more than $80,000 – had allegedly been misappropriated.
Police said as a result of their investigation, Todd Bishop, 51, of Brighton, was charged with criminal breach of trust, three counts of forgery, four counts of fraud over $5000, fraud under $5,000, four counts of theft over $5,000, and theft under $5,000.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on Feb. 29, 2024, said police. OPP said they will not identify the name of the organization, as it is considered a victim.
