Wednesday marked a momentous day for Legacy Brighton Retirement Living as the community swung open its doors for a grand-opening celebration.
“We’re excited to host our official grand opening – we opened in December (but) this is the perfect time of year to have a grand-opening event,” said Stephanie Zajczenko-Opdam, vice-president of Legacy Living.
Looking back on the time spent bringing the multi-million-dollar 124-suite build to life at 291 Main St., it was all about the start of a community, and creating a campus-like atmosphere with an array of amenities, explained Zajczenko-Opdam.
During the grand-opening celebration Wednesday, June 19, the retirement community welcomed visitors, friends, families and dignitaries to tour the new facility, while marking the occasion with official ribbon and cake-cutting ceremonies, and more.
The emphasis was on giving thanks and shining a light on all who’ve supported and shaped the development of this community, explained Zajczenko-Opdam.
The campus is focused on helping residents maintain independence, as well as assistive living.
The retirement community development thus far has created close to about 50 jobs, with full-time, part-time and casual positions.
Meanwhile, on the property to the west, there are also plans to build apartments for the 55-plus community, noted the VP.
Several dignitaries were also in attendance for the celebration, including multiple members of Brighton council and Northumberland-Peterborough South MP Philip Lawrence sent congratulations.
