A Cobourg Police Service (CPS) member has been suspended with pay following allegations of misconduct while on duty.
The suspension comes after the service filed a chief’s complaint, prompting an investigation by York Regional Police to ensure an unbiased and transparent process.
“I have been made aware of allegations of misconduct against a member of CPS while they were on duty with the service,” said Chief Paul VandeGraaf. “We took immediate action to initiate an investigation led by York Regional Police. Our main goal is to ensure a fair and unbiased investigation. We will provide an update to the public once the investigation is complete.”
The constable involved will remain suspended with pay until the investigation’s outcome is determined. The CPS say they remain committed to maintaining transparency and integrity throughout this process.
