
Northumberland OPP are calling on the public for help after a two-vehicle collision claimed the life of an 18-year-old Hastings resident.
The investigation into the crash involving a pick-up truck and motorcycle in the Municipality of Trent Hills is ongoing, police said in an update on Friday, Aug. 9.
The evening prior – Thursday, Aug. 8, at about 6:45 p.m. – emergency crews responded to the crash in the County Road 45 and Broadworth Road area.
Initially, serious injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
On Friday morning, OPP confirmed an 18-year-old from Hastings who was on the motorcycle had died. Police said following the collision he was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
There were no reported injuries to the driver of the other vehicle, added OPP.
Police are calling on the public for help, with a plea to anyone who may have witnessed the crash and are looking for anyone who may have video or dash-cam footage or additional information related to the investigation.
Anyone who has not yet talked to police is asked to call Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
Members of the OPP’s traffic incident management enforcement (TIME) team and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario also responded to the scene and are continuing to assist in the investigation, noted Northumberland OPP.
The collision had County Road 45 closed in the area until about 1 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9.
No other details have been released by police.
