
Northumberland OPP say an Ottawa resident wanted for assault and firearm charges in connection with an attempted murder investigation has been apprehended.
On Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, police said Serguei Petrov, 41, of Ottawa, was charged with aggravated assault and pointing a firearm after reportedly being picked up by members of the OPP’s repeat offender parole enforcement team.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
This is the second arrest in OPP’s ongoing investigation into an alleged attempted murder in the Township of Cramahe back on Nov. 13, 2024.
Police said the accused was arrested in Ottawa on Nov. 28, 2024, and then transported to Northumberland OPP’s custody.
The accused was reportedly held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
As previously reported, back on Nov. 13, at about 1 p.m., police said they were called to a Mitchell Road residence after a dropped 911 call. Initially described as a serious incident, police said one person was transported to hospital with serious injuries as a result of the alleged incident.
Investigators continue to say that they believe this was an isolated incident.
As previously reported by OPP, as a result of the initial investigation, Katlyn Atkinson, 34, of Northumberland, was arrested earlier on Nov. 14 and charged with attempted murder.
This charge has not been proven in court.
The Northumberland OPP crime unit investigation is continuing under the direction of the criminal investigation branch and with help from OPP’s forensic identification services, emergency response team, tactics and rescue unit and canine unit.
No other details were provided by police.
