C.R. Gummo School was briefly placed in lockdown this morning (Dec. 18) after a student called police reporting that another student had a gun.
The call, made at approximately 10:30 a.m., prompted an immediate response from the Cobourg Police Service.
Police said they arrived at the school and investigated the claim, determining there was no firearm on the premises and that the report was false. Officers cleared the school and confirmed it was safe for staff and students to resume normal activities.
The temporary lockdown was implemented as a precaution, following standard safety protocols. Once the area was deemed secure, the lockdown was lifted, and the school returned to regular operations.
