Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for west Northumberland, saying bursts of snow will lead to poor visibility Saturday (Jan. 4.)
The advisory is in effect for the Colborne to Cobourg area, with officials saying local snowfall amounts of five to 10 centimetres are possible.
“Lake effect snow bands off Georgian Bay and Lake Huron are expected to extend far inland today,” reads the advisory. “The higher snowfall accumulations will remain north of Hwy. 401 and along the northwest of Hwy. 115 and Hwy. 7.”
Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly.
