The Canadian Mental Health Association in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties (CMHA HPE) is calling on the community to join their second annual Push-Up Challenge this February.
The free initiative combines fitness with education to promote mental health awareness while raising funds for vital services.
Running from February 11 to 28, participants are encouraged to complete 2,000 push-ups-or an alternate exercise like sit-ups or squats-over 18 days. The 2,000 push-ups represent the 2,000 lives lost daily to suicide worldwide. Each day brings a new mental health fact to inspire understanding and encourage open dialogue.
“Raising mental health awareness is key to breaking stigma and fostering understanding,” said Lisa Ali, CEO of CMHA HPE. “By encouraging open dialogue, we create a supportive environment where individuals feel empowered to seek help, find hope, and thrive.”
Individuals and teams can register online and track their progress using a free app. Participants will also have the chance to win a wellness self-care basket valued at over $100, with details shared on CMHA HPE’s Facebook page.
In addition to taking the fitness challenge, participants are encouraged to fundraise or donate to support CMHA HPE’s mental health programs and services.
Join the movement to make a difference, one push-up at a time. Registration and additional information are available on CMHA HPE’s website.
