After 15 years of leadership, the co-chairs Barry Adamson and Barrileigh Price of Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny are stepping down.
“This decision is bittersweet for us,” said Price. “Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny has been a true labour of love, and it has been incredible to watch the event grow into a premier community festival. My family has been working behind the scenes and on the riverbank for 15 years – my youngest son is fifteen – our involvement as a family has been very fulfilling and holistic. While we’re stepping away from our leadership roles, we are excited to see the next generation take the reins and continue the Float Your Fanny legacy.”
The 2025 event on April 12 will be their final year organizing the iconic river race, and the search is on for new leadership to continue the tradition.
Price and co-chair Barry Adamson say they are proud of how the festival has grown, bringing visitors to Port Hope each spring.
“We are incredibly proud of what this event has become,” said Adamson. “Through the hard work of so many people, we’ve enhanced safety measures, expanded the festival, and solidified Port Hope as a destination for adventure and community spirit. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of the Municipality of Port Hope, our volunteers, sponsors and participants. We may be retiring as event Chairs after 2025, but we will always remain champions of Float Your Fanny.”
A public meeting will be held after this year’s event for those interested in taking over. More details will be posted on the event’s website and social media.
“We encourage anyone passionate about this event to reach out and learn more about what it takes to bring Float Your Fanny to life,” added Price.
