A 46-year-old man is facing several charges after a stolen vehicle was recovered in Trent Hills.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report on March 1 about a vehicle stolen from a home on Daley Drive. The complainant suspected a person they shared the residence with had taken the vehicle earlier that morning. Police launched an investigation and began searching for the suspect.
On March 3, the accused was arrested by a nearby municipal police service, and the stolen vehicle was recovered. The individual, who has no fixed address, was transferred into OPP custody and charged with multiple offences, including theft of a motor vehicle, operation while prohibited, failing to comply with a probation order, theft under $5,000, and driving while under suspension.
The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg. Their name is not being released to protect the identity of the complainant.
OPP continue to remind the public to report suspicious activity and ensure their vehicles are locked and secure.
