An investigation is continuing after a 44-year-old Quinte West resident was sent to hospital with serious injuries following a single-vehicle crash into a hydro pole on Hamilton Road early Thursday morning, say police.
In an update just before noon on Thursday, March 13, 2025, police confirmed the single-vehicle collision “has left the driver with serious injuries.”
Earlier Thursday, shortly after 7 a.m., emergency crews – including police, fire and paramedics – responded to a report of a vehicle leaving the roadway on Hamilton Road between Aikins Road and Jeffrey Drive and colliding with a hydro pole, said OPP.
The driver was subsequently transported to hospital.
Just after 4 p.m. Thursday, police confirmed Hamilton Road had reopened. The road was closed earlier throughout the day for the on-scene investigation by Quinte West officers, with help from the OPP’s collision reconstructionist and technical collision investigation team members.
Earlier, police confirmed that Hydro One was also contacted following the crash due to potential damage to the hydro pole.
