If you’re looking for a way to mark Earth Day, you’ve got options in Brighton.
In addition to the return of the Mayors’ Keep the County Clean Challenge, Brighton is gearing up for a community cleanup and calling on local residents.
“Participating in Earth Day events is a great opportunity to contribute to the global effort of protecting the environment, promote sustainability, and make a tangible impact in your local community,” says the municipality.
Here’s what you need to know:
The Mayors’ Keep the County Clean Challenge returns for its 15th year in 2025.
Starting April 20, Brighton hopes residents will answer the call to help “put waste in its place” through the challenge by cleaning up public spaces like roadside ditches, parks and trails.
Registration forms are available online via the municipality’s website and at the Municipal Centre, the public works building and Codrington Community Centre. Supplies are also available for pickup at these locations as of Monday, April 14.
The community cleanup is set for Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to noon in downtown Brighton.
Participants will meet in Memorial Park, where supplies will be distributed and nearby cleanup locations assigned. No registration is needed – it’s a drop-in style event.
