YMCA Northumberland celebrated its community impact and future vision at its Annual General Meeting on April 24 at The Mill Restaurant & Golf Course.
Centred around the theme Building a Brighter Tomorrow, the meeting welcomed community members, partners, and dignitaries to reflect on the YMCA’s achievements and renewed commitments to positive change.
“Our theme truly reflects our commitment to creating opportunities, fostering inclusion and nurturing the potential of every person in our community,” said Eunice Kirkpatrick, President and CEO of YMCA Northumberland.
Guest speaker Maggie Weaver shared her personal “Y story,” adding a meaningful perspective to the morning. Eric Mejorado, Campbellford Centre Manager, opened with a land acknowledgement, followed by a message from Dr. Beth Selby, Chair of the Board, who reviewed the past year’s accomplishments and strategic direction.
According to the Y, their 2024 Financial Report, delivered by Baker Tilly LLP, demonstrated the YMCA’s ongoing financial stability and growth. A video update on the new “Y Way Experience Program” outlined an innovative, people-first approach to supporting staff, members and child care families across Northumberland County.
In 2024, YMCA Northumberland reports welcoming over 205,000 visits to its Health, Fitness & Aquatics locations and the enrollment of more than 1,000 children in child care, reflecting strong community demand.
New Board members James Behan, Iain MacInnes and Kevin Griffin were welcomed, while outgoing directors Dr. David Kim, Doug Mann and Elizabeth Vosburgh were recognized for their service. Past Board Chair Bill MacDonald also introduced updated Association By-Laws.
The event closed with a networking opportunity and open dialogue between leadership and attendees.
