Automated speed enforcement (ASE) cameras are on the move again in Belleville starting in June.
In a recent advisory from the city, officials confirmed cameras are moving to new locations starting the week of June 2 to 6.
“Signage has been posted at the four new locations to notify drivers of the upcoming change,” said city officials.
As of June, cameras will officially be rolled out in community safety zones along:
- Bridge Street West, from Sidney Street to Haslett Court.
- Sidney Street, from Tracey Street to College Street West.
- Harmony Road, from Hwy. 37 to 449 Harmony Rd.
- Cannifton Road, from College Street East to Bell Boulevard/Adam Street.
City officials continue to reiterate that ASE implementation is about prioritizing road safety and promoting responsible driving behaviours.
Residents and motorists are being encouraged to familiarize themselves with upcoming changes and comply with speed limits.
Meanwhile, as previously reported in Brighton, the 90-day notification period is still underway along Elizabeth Street for its ASE program.
The 90-day period officially started April 15. The camera is up and working, but tickets aren’t yet being dished out.
However, citations will start being issued as of July 14, at which point, a “camera in use” sign is supposed to be installed informing motorists the camera is active.
These types of cameras capture and record speeds, with tickets automatically mailed to registered vehicle owners, regardless of who was behind the wheel.
The “municipal speed camera coming soon” signs were originally posted in Brighton last April 2024.
