Quinte West OPP say a Scarborough resident has been charged in a fake gold jewelry fraud probe.
According to OPP, after following up on complaint on May 8 about an individual flagging down traffic along a Hwy. 401 on-ramp and claiming to be out of gas and willing to exchange jewelry for cash, an investigation has led to an arrest.
The accused is a 48-year-old Scarborough resident who has been charged with fraud under $5,000.
This charge has not been proven in court.
The accused was released from custody and will appear in Belleville court on June 12, 2025, reported OPP.
