A charge of carrying a concealed weapon has been laid against a 16-year-old by police in Cobourg.
Investigators say a group of people at Cobourg beach were approached by a male late in the afternoon on May 13. The person’s face was allegedly covered by a balaclava.
At one point, the individual lifted his shirt. Police say that’s when witnesses say they saw a black handle of an unknown item tucked into the person’s waistband. Turns out it was allegedly a machete.
Police were called and the suspect was located a short distance from the beach. He ran first but officers caught up with him and arrested him, report police.
The accused was also charged with wearing a disguise with intent.
