
Police are calling on the public for help after an alleged distraction theft at a Brighton business earlier this year, say Northumberland OPP.
Back on April 7, 2025, a wallet was reported stolen, along with unauthorized transactions on bank cards, said police.
The complainant told police they last had their wallet at a commercial premises on Elizabeth Street on April 5 at about 5:30 p.m.
Investigators believe that a distraction occurred at the car park of the location, said OPP, in an update on Wednesday, May 14.
Police are now calling on the public to help identify a man and woman sought in connection with their investigation. On Wednesday, police also released images of the individuals.
The investigation is continuing, and police are asking anyone who knows the identity of the individuals or anyone with information to contact the Brighton OPP detachment at 613-475-1313 or the non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122. Police also provided a reference occurrence number of E250419070.
Citizens are also being reminded that should they wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers is an option by calling 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be submitted online.
Tipsters do not have to testify in court and information can lead to a cash reward of up to $2,000.
